Geez, some hightmare stories there. I feel a bit lucky after picking up my used MY00. Five months of happy ownership and so far so good (besides some bobo running up the back of it a few weeks ago)

If you are going to spend good money on a car, then fork out for a good inspection, not only does it give you some peace of mind, it can also give you good bargaining power when it comes time to make a deal on the final price. I feel sorry for anyone who has been burnt on a car after all the hard work involved in saving to buy it.

I do feel for you tho. The last car I bought had some problems too ie broken gearbox and turbo. The funny thing was that I had an RAC inspection and it came out squeaky clean. The dealer didn't want to know about it.
