Default Need info for chaning brakepads/rotors

I'll be changing the rotors and brake pads (front) on my MY00 wrx tomorrow, is there a certain torque specification for the brake pad caliper? or do I just tighten it until it is "tight enough". and for the rotors I know I need to clean them prior to installing, is there anything else I should be aware of? cheers guys

I'm installing DBA street series slotted rotors with QFM HPX pads. I searched but couldnt find anything to do with tension specs.

cheers guys, any help will be much appreciated

There's no bolts to undo......Just unclip the wire retainer, pop out the anti rattle spring, slide the 2 pins out, push the old pads back and Voila! done!

Edit: Doh! I missed that your swapping disks too lol! .... Pissy chrissy......... :P

make sure you put the rotors on the correct way if they are slotted

The 2 bolts that hold the caliper to the bearing housing or up right should be tensioned to 80nm.
Make sure you use the anti rattle shims onto the back of the pads.
Make sure you clean the pins completely and the caliper surface where the pad sits, apply a copper based anti sieze compound to the pins, so the pads can move freely.
If you are not confident doing the job, don't do it. there is no second chances with brakes

Your pads where about 5-10k old when i sold you the car, shouldnt need changing yet unless you've been driving like a mad cunt!

changing rotors, not gonna use old pads on new rotors, been getting brake shudder on front so hopefully this fixes it, if not then I guess a wheel alignment is in order as the wheel bearings are fine.

and nah haven't been driving it liek a mad cunt haha, just the odd squirt here n there, had a face off at lights this morning against some silver rex in mandurah who had the loudest bov on the market, he didnt stand a chance, do busy listening to the whooosh noiuse haha.

EDIT: P.S. I didn't want to have them machined again as you said your uncle machined them for you and they will need to be replaced eventually anyway so migth aswell install new rotors now.

Don't forget to clean the surface of the flange where the disc sits onto the hub.

thanks mao, yea we cleaned the discs, the anti rattle surface the flange where the disc sits.

I have driven the car, brakes work fine, there is still brake shudder but not as bad, so I'm thinking a wheel balance is in need. and we found a puncher ready to happen on the front left tyre, so I'm thinking a wheel balance and a fix for the wheel with a near puncher to be done at the same time.

I normally go to Bob jane in Mandurah, not sure what other places are like, any recommendations?

EDIT: Also if I brake hard I feel a instant shudder but it quickly goes away, would this mean that the shudder could be caused by the pads not being bedded in yet?
