I just had a TBE fitted, and it drove fine for a couple of days between with careful driving off boost.

I then had it tuned and from the initial run it was apparent that during the maximum manifold pressure my AFR's were fairly high meaning the car was running lean.

Edit: From what Rob said it sounds like it will only go into limp mode if a certain AFR is exceeded (i.e If you gas it too much)

I don't even know why you wouldn't just save and do it all at once.

Just makes more sense, you get to safely and reliably enjoy the car without worrying about running rich, lean, etc etc.

Bit of a hint from personal experience... I ran my MY11 with a turboback exhaust and no tune for over a week, experienced absolutely no problems at all. Was told that the air sensors in the later models can detect it pretty well and that i shouldn't have any trouble with it untuned... I got it tuned anyway to be on the safe side, although i did still run it fairly hard before it was tuned and it seemed completely fine!

What Robert said is pretty spot on...the car will be fine without a tune for a while AS LONG AS you don't push it...if so it may go into limp or even worse lean out an internally haemorrhage. I would change to a Walbro....again a useful safety item. Standard airbox is fine, though saying that mine did gain a reasonable amount with a CAI and silicone intake.
Bottom line is drive it sensibly but get a tune ASAP.
