Default 06 wrx bootlight always on. Help?

Ive got a 2006 wrx impreza and in the rear parcel shelf ive cut out and installed two 6" speakers. At night time when im sitting in the car and whether the key be turned to the ACC, ON or Start postiton i can see bootlight coming through the speakers, with the bootlight constantly being on. I was just wondering if this is normal or maybe there is a problem somewhere? I dont see a reason for the bootlight to be on when the boot is closed and not being used

If anyone has any suggestions.

Thanks.

I leave mine on all the time, as the mrs likes to read during long drives.

Is your interior light on at the same time? I think they're linked (at least they are in the GC's... or just mine). Otherwise have a play with the switch near the boot latch to see if that fixes anything.

Did you damage any switches or wiring when you installed the speakers? Drilled through any cables?

Switch or you've shorted something buddy. Easiest way to fix is remove the globe

No my interior light is not on at the same time. Had a play with the switch next to the boot latch and the bootlight only seems to dim down the slightest bit but is still on. Im also 100% sure that i did not drill into any wiring. Which switch are you talking about Brett? And if ive shorted something Steve, wouldnt that mean that the boot light shouldnt be working at all?

Depends how it's wired mate, but in theory yes. Hate to go here but in my betty i can turn the boot light on via a switch on the light itself, not sure if yours is similar.

I would think you should have a permanent active running to the boot lid sensor which operates as normally closed then when you shut the boot its normally open. Cutting the active to the light. The switch could be fcked but I'd be surprised. Get friendly with a multimeter

Just had a look at my boot light and it should turn the light off straight away when you press the pressure switch so some thing isn't right. I'd say its been like that since before you put your speakers in and you didn't know because you couldn't see.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, ill get on to checking out the switch with a multimeter tomorrow after work. there is no switch on the bootlight like yours steve. Ill also take a photo tomorrow of the bootlight and the wiring as the black wiring that clips into the bootlight and gives it power has another white-end clip wire that runs alongs next to tje black one that doesnt hook up into anything, so not sure if that would have anything to do with it. Ill upload the photo tomorrow and my findings with the multimeter and see if that helps.
