Default Heat wrapping headers?

Hey, so I'm going to be purchasing some UEL replica headers from America soon and was wondering if heat wrap will help them last longer or deteriorate faster due to holding moisture which can lead to rust?

My car is an n/a Impreza RS 2.5 '02 - which makes me think is it really necessary?

Heres the link for the headers;

97-05 Subaru Impreza 2.5L N/A Performance Exhaust Manifold Header Extractor | eBay

They say they're already stainless but you can never trust ebay. So, should I wrap them or leave them as they are?

PS: Ceramic coating is out of my budget

don't bother, i wouldn't even bother getting headers for a wrx let alone an rs

also by the look of them they will be more trouble than they're worth

Don't waste your time/money.

Save your cash up and buy a WRX when you have enough pennies

I wrapped my headers, it can't hurt. If a weld is going to let go it's going to let go regardless of whether it's wrapped or coated. Wrap just makes it harder to find the crack or leak down the track.

Though as stated, don't bother on an RS. You're not going to gain much and if they behave anything like my UEL headers, it will actually take away a bit of that boxer rumble.

As above, it's hardly going to be worthwhile but wrapping seems pointless when ceramic coating would do a better job.

Many people have said that due to the heat it creates moisture around the pipe (under the wrap) which can lead to rust and other nasty stuff.

To the others, though I am also saving for a WRX later down the track, (I see where you're coming from) but as it's my first car which I've had for a couple of months now, I wanna have a bit of fun with it. Love the rumble and since it's already got a catback, whats the harm?

Look up borla replica on ebay. You can get the headers that make it sound like a wrx from sydney i think. Easier than America.

Then just chuck them on. Dont worry about wrap. Not needed.

Unless you're parking in puddles or leave your car out in the open weather day in, day out it's not going to be a problem. Even if rust were to occur, it would be that far down the track in years that you wouldn't even own the car anymore.

As Russ said, borla replica headers = bolt-on and drive if you want the rumble.

Do it once, do it properly.
