Been thinking about getting a short shifter and bushes for my car.

Has anyone installed either the Kartboy / Cobb / GFB short shifters? Wondering how much they would differ from the $99 Ultrex one.

I have the Kartboy short shifter plus the bushes to go into my car but it needs a day when I have time to get under the car. The shifter looks straight forward but one of the bushes requires a subframe to be dropped. This is for the 6 speed.

Easy to Install, if your doing it at home then you will need axle stands

the bush replacement is the pita, the shifter itself is a piece of cake. And when its all said and done, its the bush upgrades that make the serious difference.

Hmm thanks think I might order shifter + bushes. I assume there is no difference for LHD vs RHD so I can order from US?

Kartboy front and rear shifter bushings will work on your car Ben, I have the same in mine already.

What's the best setup for a MY01 5 speed? Group N mount + which s/s kit? Bit suss about these $99.00 specials.
Also do i lose the option to use the standard gear knob? Or does that screw back on with the stock gear boot no dramas?

I've installed the Cobb dual adjustable short shifter with kartboy front bushings. Cost was about $140 (from Cobb) delivered but definitely worth getting an adjustable lever so you can set it to suit you. I only installed the front bushings as my car has only done 40,000kms so there was no slop in the shifter to start with.
