UMM i think i have built my fair share of performance engines
And i was told the same thing you cant do it etc let the pros do it. Well guess what i started building my own as most people do as i got shat over by a big dollor work shop, who made a mistake in the clearance of some forgies and claimed that it was a race spec engine so no warranty i didnt even take owner ship of car when it poped.so i was left with no money to fix said fault so what was i to do still paying my loan back for the engine,i did some reaserch and put one together my self. now im not saying any one can do it but its not as hard as some make it to be i basicly taught my self by trial and error 13bt sr rb 1j 355 ls1 and soon to be boxer engines how you think the rigolis lernt by just having a crack its the aussie way i always looked at combos that worked and ones that didnt and went from there ask lots of questerns etc i was lucky i have some good mates in the performance sceen over the world that helped me along the way, i by no means claim to be great at puting engines together just that if a big gimp like me can do it any one can have a try |

Seems building an engine is easier than correctly using the English language

I'll bet there are things you did on the first engine you put together, that you wouldn't do again or do in a different way. After at least 6 engine rebuilds, yes it would be easier as you have picked up some techniques on what to do. Why I think it is better for the OP to start 'learning by trial and error' on something easier than doing the all out big dollar gucci item build first up.

Stoked to see you do this Sonic. I hope you do it and take heaps of pics.
I would have it machined by a pro, sleeved, closed decked, tq plate honed etc then you assemble it. Good stuff.

If money ain't a thing, then you're best selecting everything in the Cosworth catalogue.
Pair it up with the Subaru service manual plus a Haynes manual or something similar, and you should be good to go! |
