Similar noise.

I have worked it out that I believe it is the ABS system kicking in, hence the grinding noise. Now to work out how to disable that...without voiding warranty...god damnit

Why would your ABS kick in if your foot is not on the brake pedal?
You said your clutch stopped smelling bad at the 12k mark and you are now at the 20k mark and still launching your car hard.
How long has the noise been there?
If the noise is new then something new is wrong with your car.

And yes disabling your ABS will void your warranty and maybe someones life too.
