Nothing's been achieved this week so another 3 probably isn't out of the question.

OK Just and update, I went Maximum Motorsport ans should have done so ages ago, very good guys indeed.

They tested the WRX for over 2 hours and charged me much less than I thought I'd be charged, My car is running "Very,Very lean"?. They tested with another AFM and was still the same, it was showing that at about 3000rpm it suddenly runs lean off the scale!?....

The previous owner had the car in at MMS on 23/3/12 and had ECUTEK put on,Walbro Pump installed and an UP PIPE, at that time the car was running fine.Ive Changed nothing on the car except Wheels and a better Boost gauge.

MMS Suspect either a leaking Vacuum hose somewhere, a break in that Crappy stock intake pipe or some odd electrical fault somewhere??. Was told to run extra earth wires and see if it helps and try the spraying Aerostart around the hoses, intake etc to try locate a leak, its odd though as the car idles perfectly fine.

Ive been told its still ok to drive the car but not to drive it hard, I'll be putting about slow until I get the cause sorted but at least I now know what the fuck is going on!..

Hey just my 2cents, if it's after 3000rpm when she's on boost maybe that's enough to cause a leak in your exhaust system before your oxygen sensor. Giving you that lean reading. I'd guess if it's on the intake side you'd loose boost. And run rich. If anyone knows a shop that has a smoke tester, it's an awesome tool for finding any intake related vacuum leaks for one. Could also be used to check your exhaust and engine for leaks. Hope you get it sorted soon.

I was thinking the exact same thing today about getting a smoke tester hooked up to try locate any leaks. Im yet to find a workshop in Perth who has one!

Do u run lean around 3000rpm or after it? 3000rpm is where close loop changes to open loop.

They just said they didn't know if the problem was some electrical fault or a leak in one of the hoses or that plastic intake pipe.

Failing having one of those smoke testers ,I don't know how they could possibly find the leak??, if they had one I'm sure they would have used it.

does it backfire a lot?

If so it is likely an exhaust leak

Today I bought a $100 Fog Machine and ,hose, few fittings, clamps, water based fog Juice, I plumbed it into the intake pipe and gave it a few goes.

The machine really does pummel out the smoke but I could see no leaks showing on my car at all?, I now believe the problem is not a broken intake pipe or vacuum hose, it must be something else?.

I just don't know what to do with it now??
