Default AC Compressor slip?

Hi folks
Did a little search but could not really find an answer on this. Just recently my AC compressor has started making odd noises. If it kicks in under acceleration it screeches, sounds a little like belt slip? Could be the clutch slip? Unsure but thought someone on here might have an idea. I have never really had to deal with AC before because I have never had it until now! It still seems to work well enough once it has kicked in and the noise stops. Typical that it would fail just as it is starting to get hot enough for the AC to be needed.

Given there is likely a problem with the system can anyone recommend a good AC shop NOR?
Thanks
Mat

P.S in case it makes a difference it is a 08 Forester 2.5 n/a

How old is the ac belt? they tend to get harder and more slippery as they get older, so if yours has been on there for a while this might be the reason for the noise. You can also try checking the tension on the belt because if that's not tight enough that will also cause it to slip.

Belt would be original one would assume so 5 years old. Tension seems okay but for the price of a belt I might just chuck a new one in anyway and find out.

did you have any success with this? I think mine is doing the same. Belts are only a couple of years old, compressor is original and 14 years old. Is there a way to lubricate the clutch on the a/c compressor?
