On that note...Apart from ASG which quoted me about $990 for the first tune, do you guys use anyone else in the NOR area for reliable tuning or are they the safest option?

$990 for the first tune is less than I paid for my first tune at ASG. Would recommend 10 times over, the car has been fantastic since.

Maoat Evolution R charges 650 for first tune I believe. He is at Bentley though. He uses open source too.

My MY05 has only got a stock exhaust, so naturally I'm on the hunt for a Cannon style TBE, I found this 'Monthly Special' on Ultrex and it seems to be what I'm after.

SUBARU IMPREZA WRX EXHAUST / STI EXHAUST MY94-07 3 INCH TBE SUBARU IMPREZA WRX EXHAUST / STI EXHAUST MY94-07 3 INCH TBE [EXHAUSTIMP9407DRIFTSPEC] - $550.00 : ULTREX PERFORMANCE - BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK IN PERFORMANCE PARTS

Does anyone have any experience/opinion on this TBE?

If you search Ultrex on here you will quickly find that pretty much everything that comes from them is great value for money. I honestly can't remember reading a single complaint or report of a disappointing product.

^ What he said.

I had an Ultrex CBE installed, only reason I took it off was because I was after a different sound. High build quality for the money, and I currently have an Ultrex downpipe installed. Can't go wrong.

noise level is all relative to be honest
if you're not used to the boxer noise, it does sound "loud"
give it a few more weeks and you'll get used to it
if not, get a resonator/hot dog put in it

From what I've read on here everyone seems to go ultrex so I assumed it must be a good system, I just thought I would confirm before I go spending money

I only just fitted my TBE on Thursday and to be honest not 100% happy... It hasn't fitted 100% and have to go to an exhaust shop to get it heated up and bent slightly also the drone on the freeway is a problem for me... It sounds amazing at idle and when your hammering thru the gears but that's it... I would try to go for a drive in someone's car with an Ultrex system before you decide... As for me might try the hotdog option then if still not happy replace the whole system..

It is worth noting that this practice also applies to a lot of name brand exhausts and headers as well where name brand equals paying in significant multiples of Ultrex prices.
