Timing belt slipped, skipped, missed etc and rooted the ol engine

It was an STi timing belt with a brand new Subaru tensioner.. How can it slip. i am interested to know p.s i appreciate all the constructive feedback thus far Last edited by Dscott; 25-03-2014 at 08:44 AM. |

That turned out to be a faulty o2 sensor.

O2 sensor isn't going to do this damage, it would just run a bit rich, and throw a cel. You have not installed your timing belt/cam gears correctly and it has cost you your engine.... OEM cam gears and belt is hard enough for the average home mechanic, let alone adjustable cam gears! It's a costly mistake, but hopefully one that you can build on. Now, do it once, do it right... |

Did you miss a gear? a huge over-rev can cause belt skip.
Were you using OEM valve retainers & collets? I just read the other post...... This:

no, I was cruising 2000~3000rpm, the surging is during this rev range also.
Jun Valve retainers and collets. yes a Powerfc. |
