Weight reduction can gain massive improvements just be aware that losing the weight will not only increase your power to weight and braking effect but decrease your traction threshold and change the handling characteristics of the car .

Obviously this is going the whole shebang but getting the best from everything is usually being able to show controlled restraint in the modifications of your car . As seen with time attack cars massive weight reduction is usually in harmony with the amount of aero fitted to the car to keep it on the track and be able to get the power to the ground in a usable fashion.
This Is how inexperienced drivers find their limits quickly due to the extra speed needed to get the aero on the car to work properly .
The improvements to be had are defiantly noticable.

I dont think there is much point in a road car except for the obvious coilovers wheels etc. Unless you're looking everywhere you can to find time on the track.

Ok, the jack, space saver, boot carpet, some styrofoam, rear floor mats, UBD and service books have saved me 20.4kg Will leave rear seats and boot lining in for now. Oh have an RAC track day tomorrow.

Ditto, its going to be a long morning, taking the Subie.

This thread has made me think, lots more options that I had never thought of. I won't do 95% to 99% of them but Its good to be aware of them:

AnorexicSTI - 05 STI Lightweight w/ "full interior" - 2660lbs - 62 lbs to 2598! - Subaru Impreza WRX STI Forums: IWSTI.com

Shame no pics . . .

Big time. When i built my evo x it was 1480kg brand new with very little fule but including the owners manual etc. by the time it was ready to start targa tas with a 1/3rd a tank of fuel, first aid kit, camera, safety triangles etc it was well, well under 1400kg's.

There is a build thread on here somewhere with a detailed list of what everything weighed as we pulled it out.

Brendon

Edit. Here is my build thread. http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/non-wrx-...mac-build.html

I think we got my old '06 STI down to 1420 with a fullish tank of fuel and back seats removed for the last Dutton Rally we did. I think the standard dry weight of an '06 STI was high 1400's.
Rob removed a whole lot of extraneous nuts, bolts and various bits and pieces plus the under front u-shaped beam (replaced with an H-brace) and the bars under the back seat, but kept the sound deadening. There are lots of little things that you can remove like the counter-weights off the rear Brembo calipers etc, etc...

Just ordered a titanium cat back that saves 16kg, and apparently the coil overs that are in are around 1kg lighter each than stock too.
