Default clutch problem

hey guys

recently been noticing something strange. after i change gears and take my foot off the clutch and accelerate im noticing the revs go higher but the speed isn't proportionately going with it... and i can smell that clutch burning smell as if i've still got my foot on the clutch when it's not. even when i'm just cruising on 4th and give it more acceleration the revs will jump high but the speed isn't going as high, and then that clutch burning smell will appear. car is 06 wrx...

haven't noticed anything physically stopping the clutch from coming up, looks fine...

any ideas?

Sounds like clutch is slipping, same thing happened in my old WRX. Time for a new one.

Clutch slipping means it doesn't have enough friction with the flywheel to transfer all the load through it anymore - usually due to worn pressure plate.

Ask me how I know!
