Is it worth wrapping the turbo itself?

i dont think you could do that very easily - its a bad shape for it, and also the little arm thing for the wastegate needs to be unobstructed.

but its definatly worth getting ceramic coated or otherwise insulated.

you have to consider that your brake booster is just above and to the left of the turbo, when running a turbo hard it can easily get RED hot... and then your brake booster will melt .. this is a bad thing, ceramics prevent the head from exiting the turbo, thus making your zorst gases basically more hot.

Anyone with tomei/Perrin twin scroll headers, can you wrap them off the car and fit them? As one piece?

They dont need to be fitted in bits and slipped together?

pete the upipe should just bolt onto the header.. so yeah u can bolt them together then wrap them if u want to...

but if u want to separate them for some reason then u would prolly have to remove some of the wrapping..

If ur getting them coated then i dont see why u would need to wrap them together. Or wrap them at all to be honest..

Ive heard that the sandblsating of the piping ensures the welds dont crack...

So if the welds themselves were not shit to begin with, as they were a decent pair of headers, why excatly would Thermal wrapping them cause it to crack as has been said? I was thinking of thermal wrapping my headers before they are installed but would rather them not to crack.....

i was told by the guy that coats the headers, whom told me that sand blasting removes any fatigues that the welds may create. thus when there coated they are less prone to crack..

So its not the actual wrapping that will crack the headers, its the weakness in manufacture. Are we talking about regular driving, or extended trackwork stress....spose it really depends on the severity of the weakness in the weld.

so has anyone actually coated headers and then wrapped them?

or should i just leave them coated?

I'm scared of burning the plastic undertray and possibly the oil filter

I'm going to be coating and wrapping my headers. Not sure if it will provide any benefits, but it surely can't hurt.
