I dunno Doug- what does everyone think of trying lightweight oil first? If rebuild kits aren't that exxy, I'm more inclined to go for that and be done with it. Knowing it's fresh is comforting if some other issues appears out their on the track... Matt- we compared my wheel spin to yours the other evening... BIG difference! LOL!! How much tighter is the Cusco item (I assume you have inside from last conversation?) to that of a 2 way plated?? Cheers guys.

the rebuild kit may be cheap, but dropping the diff, disassembly/reassembly/reinstallation isnt (unless your diy'ing).
i'd be inclined to give the oil a refresh first, the worst you can do is drop the oil again in a few days anyway.

Hi Joel
You just need to have it re-shimmed, it's considered normal maintenance for plated LSD. Tony Flood has done mine in the past by measuring the load that it breaks free at and shimming to suit your chosen application. For diff oil try Castrol SAF-XA approx $32/L comes with friction modifiers already added and is arguably one of the best LSD oils on the market. If you like to change your oils often then you could go a much cheaper product. Around $30/4L I used Castrol LSX85W140 for several years in my Kaaz. LSX85W140 was recommended to me by a WA Diff and Transmission specialists whom have proven it for many years in hipo LSD applications. Btw, great thread steal with parallel discussions, you gotta love Perth - WRX

Being thoughtful for future searchers on these forums: better than starting YET another thread on the same topic I was thinking...
