It is a good idea to get rid of the stock up pipe in a bugeye, get one with a flex joint to avoid fitting dramas.

Good to know if claims are true (don't have reason to doubt Rob) If anyone is interested the Tomei headers gave a consistent power increase across the rev range with a max of 10atwkw improvement with no other tuning required. It was done on a 257 motor with other mods already installed. The test was done in and old ff&r mag I had a few years ago.

Can also vouch that they're the same product, have had both Tomei and the Kando/Ultrex ones in my hands and they are identical aside from the badge. Have the Kando/Kinugawa ones on mine, no issues fitting and no issues have developed. Got a set plus ceramic coating for what a set of Tomei ones would have cost.

Easy enough to fit yourself if you have access to a hoist?

SSI factory in Taiwan make the Tomei and Kando ones, I know as I've personally dealt with the factory when I was selling them via group buys.

Only difference in the Tomei branded ones and the SSI/Kando ones is the Tomei name plate and the Tomei/SSI brand stamp on the flanges, the rest is identical.

So you'd be paying extra for just those 2 things.
