Default Transmission whining

hey,

I have a automatic MY98 WRX and have noticed a loud whining that seems to be coming from the gearbox.

It starts off as a quiet whine but gets louder the faster you go, but then goes quiet when under load (accelerating).

if anyone has any idea of what it might be, could really do with the help.

thanks

Take it to Dougie and Damo at Stechnic, they should be able to pinpoint the problem.

No point in searching google as it could anything...

Sounds like a center diff. I had same problem but in a manual GC8 sti and it was the center diff. Good work on the manual conversion though probably the best way to solve the problem.

Hope you got the tail shaft and matching diff to go with the box, you also need to alter some wires on the computer from memory.

Yeah I have the matching diff and the right tail shaft
A guy on gumtree had a tail shaft and when we got the to pick it up he ask wheather we had a auto tail shaft that he could have
So we just swapped the part
Plus he is talking to his brother to see how much he would sell the rest of the parts that I need off his manual wreck
