Its called a "Check Engine Light" for a reason... DUH!

I dont understand why people think they will scrimp on something that's trying to protect your 40k - 60k investment.

Use some sense people, if the light is on... get it checked!

I am waiting for them to get back to me on a time! Not much else I can do.

Well,

Lets just say, on rexnet another user got APC to install an exhaust and it caused nothing but problems. Plus they didn't wire the EGT resistor in correctly, APC also placed a manual bleed valve to stop it from over boosting.

Jebus! talk about dodge.

Anyways, they agreed to remove exhaust and bleed.

Car is running fine now

They did exactly the same to me! Nothing but problems so they put a bleed valve on and jammed it shut and it seemed to work ok for about a week, then it happened again, by this time I had had enough and knew they didn't have a bloody clue what was going on, so I took it to MMS and got Tek2 since then no probs until the other day.
Also when they put the exhaust on the didn't check my wastegate had clearance and when RT tried to tune it, they couldn't because he wasn't getting proper readings. He figured it out pretty quickly though, so all in all they cost me about an extra $600 plus EcuTek for a $2200 exhaust - USELESS BASTARDS (In saying that the guys were pretty nice they just didn't know about rexes)!
They should stick to ford and holden and not touch the rex's coz they dont know the first thing about them! I think I took my car back to them about 6 or 7 times!
What do you guys think about a delta dash?

you know... after i offered to help this other guy off rexnet.. i checked his wastegate duty cycles etc.. and they were working perfect from day one.

funny thing is.. its exactly the same shop and pretty much exact same reasons.

oh well live and learn.

Yeh well my last option is boost controller. If I take the dump pipe off there goes more money down the gurgler! Its not harming the engine, its just the sensitive ECU.

I dont think so.

Once you understand how the ECU is expecting to see a regulated exhaust temp range.. no amount of boostage control is going to help you rid this CEL.

The EGT map has thresholds to tell it whats a safe operating temp. Because you have removed CAT's along the way, its seeing more heat (assuming its a P0420 Catalyst system efficiency below threshold CEL).

You can either edit the map to tell it a new threshold or void the CEL with 05, 00,00 in the correct memory address of the ROM, Another way is to wire in a resistor to fool the ECU that the voltage is within operating temp range.

If its something like a wastegate error or boost error.. sure boost controller would help... but saying that.. why buy something external when you could regulate the wastegate via the wastegate map in the stock ecu?

Just seems like another bandage to fix another bandage..
