Sold it for half what I paid for the fucking thing to a kid over east. Running stock intake. CAI does two-fifths of fuck all apart from adding YOLO spec induction noises.
Yeah I need a sucker..ops, kid to buy mine and as for the noise it sounded like a P platers car... Not a fan Go stock👍 using the Perth-WRX mobile app |
Pretty much.
It's quite liveable for years though unlike a hektik bov, or tututu. Had my APS for a while now. You only hear it during spool and then its gone. Performance as you say though is 2 fifths/fa. I wouldn't be devvo if i went to a stock OEM box though.
I got annoyed with it just driving from STechnic to ASG for the tune, haha. Ended up being half happy that it was fucked off. |

Go stock using the Perth-WRX mobile app
Hmmmm Yes go on..... (Pplater here don't know if I'm yolo spec though) Nah for that very reason i decided to give up on a CAI but possible 15Hp for 400 bux, some noises and easy install meh why not. The Cob system in general was regarded as the hardest to tune. don't count the accesport people that reckon their car runs awesome and probably the loudest since its so short. |
CAI's are worth putting in. The guy that tunes for ecutek just struggles with them for some reason. My tuner runs an AEM and recommended it and I haven't had any issues at all. I could feel the difference quite easily between the crappy Blitz one and the AEM when I made the change.

My PW one lost me a bit of torque (4-5 Nm) and gained me a bit of powah (~19HP), but I love the noise. Not too loud, if the stereo is up, you can't hear it, but it's there if you need to do a YOLO drive-by B)

HAHAHHHA YOLO DRIVE BY!!!
thats gold |

The biggest issue you can have with running one of these is the MAF.
Issues are Is the internal inside diamitor of the pipe the same as the OEM pipe ? If not the MAF can not correctly measure the air flow. The position of the MAF sensor on the pipe It's best for it to be located as far away as possible from the Air cleaner to get a stable flow rate. Yes the AEM one works, but I don't believe it works as well as a unit like process west has designed. |
Hey seagull didnt you happen to see the link on the op with link to the grimmspeed one ? If so thoughts? from what can see they went out of the way to address that issue..
Probably just marketing though I'm not a expert on tuning or anything. You say far from the maf is good hey? I've been told the opposite :/ even with some cai's the maf position varies between the wrx and sti like on the typhoon system wrx being close and sti being far. Edit see pics same intake. I'm quite the tuning noob here, but how does getting a boost controller resolve issues associated with a CAI? |
