They replaced the alarm wiring harness on mine. Whether it fixed the issue - time will tell.

Ok I have an update with mine.
I've had the whole alarm replaced with the previous model STi alarm, not sure of the manufacturer. There still hasn't been a resolution to the new alarm fault, Subaru's guess is that it has something to do with the drop in temperature at night, but have left this with the alarm manufacturer. Apparently the same fault is occurring nationally, so I don't think temperature drop would be an issue in North Queensland etc. |

What dealership did you go to and find that out/have it replaced?

So far with my Nov-14 build I've had:
1. Twice alarm didn't disarm properly after I got in the car, push button to start and alarm goes off. Have to lock and unlock again to stop the alarm. 2. Twice I've had the front passenger door not unlock properly when unlocking all the doors. The lock latch seems to get jammed half way when unlocking so can't open the door from inside or outside and latch won't move to try to force it to lock or unlock again.. usually takes several locks and unlock cycles with the remote for it to sort of unjam/unstick before the door will open. Interestingly both times it's happened, the car has been parked in a similar area of the local shopping centre carpark. Unless there's some sort of magnetic interference in that area that messes with the door.. Go figure. 3. Battery went flat once (couldn't find any reason for it) one night, alarm goes off when the battery drops past a certain voltage to warn you the battery is going flat according to the alarm manual. By the time the alarm went off, battery was so dead the doors wouldn't unlock with the remote and car wouldn't turn over at all. Even the electronic boot release wouldn't work. (no key lock to open your boot either) |

Is it a requirement for them to fit the alarm?
I would have thought its just the factory immobiliser and that's it. You would hope that they resolve these issues with the MY16. |

For MY16 the alarm is an accessory, so not fitted standard

Hey All,
I came across this thread when having issues with my alarm/immobilizer on my MY15 WRX. Yesterday, when arming/disarming the alarm there was no sound emitted. It took about 50 start button presses to get the car started (not even sure how it started). I called Subaru service center in Lilyfield, Sydney. They asked me to bring the car in straight away. Advised the alarm was faulty and replaced it with another brand that day under warranty. I'm really happy with the service, workmanship and turn around time. Everything is working perfectly again. Happy that I purchased a Subaru! Last edited by pyro666; 20-05-2016 at 06:10 AM. |
