Ringland anyone?
After pushing 20 pounds into the car for a couple of years the change to equal length headers seems to have coincided with the need for some forged Pistons.
I am going to swap out engines in a months time once I have got some zerolift TGVs, air pump delete plates and a silicon inlet( although I would prefer an AMR hard pipe but can't justify the cost). Symptoms of the failure are increased oil consumption but with no smoke on startup or with regular driving up to about 4500rpm. If wide open after that then I get the gadget smokescreen and light soot on the back bumper and window. Is there anything else besides clutch and flywheel that I should consider whilst making the change? Note that my long engine is already assembled and is only a stage one engine with Manley Pistons, arp and all usual stuff. At least this change will set up the engine ready for an eventual switch to flex fuel once rom raider develops a suitable implementation. Turbo is currently stock. Car is an 08 Sti. Sorry to read that.
Will you be staying with the stock turbo or upgrading later on?

I will upgrade later to something like a gtx3076 but for now the budget is tight.
I will install some ID1000s as well as an AEM intake temp sensor for possible change to MAP. |

Its probably just a hair line crack atm. But manley piston will fix that.
Have u consider oil pick up and phenolic spacer? using the Perth-WRX mobile app

Exciting times ahead!
What will you do with the long engine currently in your car? |

I wouldn't bother with a clutch upgrade if your current one is healthy. . . especially on a tight budget.

The current long engine will be stripped and modified for another project.
The one going on my car should be ok for what I ever plan on doing. Other than some extra mods to the crank oiling it is essentially the same as the IAG stage 1 plus which they rate to 475whp. http://www.iagperformance.com/mobile...e=IAG-ENG-1001 |

I am not planning the oil pickup nor baffle. Hopefully this doesn't come back to bite me.
Won't need phenolic spacers as will be running the nylon TGV deletes. https://www.zerolift.com/mobile/Prod...e1438779385844 |

I already have a clutch to hand so may as well put it in. I am also going with a lightened crmo flywheel. This may turn out to be a bit of a nuisance but I generally like the lightweight rotating mass in order to get a more lively engine response. I used to have an old car that would stall if you weren't deliberate about moving off but once used to it...it added some cool character to the driving experience.

Do the oil pickup , absolutely gambling if you don't.
