Exclamation 99 WRX STI Problem: Fans Running and Injectors Clicking on and off

Hey guys , first time on this forum , I joined up because i need the advice of some fellow subaru owners
I have a 1999 V6 STI and have had some trouble with it lately.
It all started when i had a minor acident damaging the front (was only minor).
I took it to a smash repair and got a quote to repair , So i pulled all the engine and accesories in the engine bay out to get the front repaired and painted.
this was all done successfuly (took about 4 months) , so with a fresh paintjob on the engine bay i put everything back into it and got it all running.
I drove it back down to the smash repair to have the bonnet bumper and gaurds all painted but while it was there they had moved it a few times (just in and out of the shop) but yesterday it wouldnt start when one of the panel beaters tried to move it. they called me and let me know so i could come have a glance at it while they finsih a few minor things off.
Its very strange what it does. It has a mongoose m40 alarm/immobiliser. and it has a haltech ecu (ill verify what model)
When you get into the car turn the key to the acc , the dash and everything comes on and the Check Engine Light immediately Flashes quickly and constantly.
not like a normal CEL on them either. ( i have been told that you cant use the black and green connector on the Haltech ecus aswell?)
Along with that The Thermo Fans come on full speed and theres a constant clicking noise.
All 4 injectors are clicking on and off constantly
and theres relays clicking.
Along with that one of the boost/vacuum solenoid is also clicking away.
Has anyone had this problem before?
Im stumped at what it all could be , and since it had an aftermarket ecu it makes it harder for diagnosis
The exhaust sensor is unpluged underneath and i cant see anywhere to plug it in. could that cause it? the standerd sensor that sits on the top side of the downpipe is non existant :S
My best bet is That the Ecu is up to something as from what ive looked at in wiring diagrams the fans and injectors are directly connected to the ECU
Can anyone help me out , Rego is soon so i need it running
Thanks

Ps. Visually there is no damage to the wiring at the front or sides.
Also having the engine bay painted is it possible that a bad earth could cause the problem?
its just weird because i had it running.

You need to plug the haltech into a laptop with their tuning software & see what's causing it to skitz out.

There is no other way to diagnose the problem.

Perhaps the panel shop used a jump pack and fried the ECU?

My '95 did the same.. pretty sure it had an earth off in the engine bay, can't quite remember.

OK i made some progress today.
I havent had much time at all to look at earth points but i purchased a JDM ecu to chuck in and see if it solved the problem.
Plugged it in and turned the keys. No clicking or noise except fuel pump bulding pressure.
Started the car and got it running after about 1min of turning over
So Either the Haltech ecu is stuffed or theres still some other issues because i still have a Check engine light for 2 errors
First one is pressure valve solenoid - CEL 45
and the second is - CEL 22 which is knock sensor.
Now the pressure valve is the one on the Driver side where the boost solenoid is? because that makes sense as theres a broken wire and its unplugged (last owners tuner had changed some things on it and im not sure where the vacuum hose n what not are meant to go)
but the one that has me stumped is knock sensor. as far as i know its still there and plugged it , but my first plan of attack is to checks earths.

Is there any issue in having a jdm ecu in a aus sti? (besides the Wire swap that is done to make the power fc work)

The dreaded knock sensor code....

A mate had that in his '99 GC8 and ended up, or I ended up, having to rebuild the engine due to excessive big end clearance.. so bad that all of the rods needed to be resized..

I had the same with my '95 GF8 after doing heads on it, and after putting a globe in the CEL. I replaced the knock sensor and it hasn't come back since..

I had a JDM STI V6 ECU running my WRX engine and it worked a treat, so I don't think this will be a problem for you. I have read somewhere that the V5 ECU's were set for high boost in the order of around 17 psi from the factory which caused some engines to pop in Australia, but this may have been before 98RON fuel was available.

Anyone had a play under the dash?
Check if the green plugs are connected.
