99 WRX STI Problem: Fans Running and Injectors Clicking on and off
Hey guys , first time on this forum , I joined up because i need the advice of some fellow subaru owners
I have a 1999 V6 STI and have had some trouble with it lately. It all started when i had a minor acident damaging the front (was only minor). I took it to a smash repair and got a quote to repair , So i pulled all the engine and accesories in the engine bay out to get the front repaired and painted. this was all done successfuly (took about 4 months) , so with a fresh paintjob on the engine bay i put everything back into it and got it all running. I drove it back down to the smash repair to have the bonnet bumper and gaurds all painted but while it was there they had moved it a few times (just in and out of the shop) but yesterday it wouldnt start when one of the panel beaters tried to move it. they called me and let me know so i could come have a glance at it while they finsih a few minor things off. Its very strange what it does. It has a mongoose m40 alarm/immobiliser. and it has a haltech ecu (ill verify what model) When you get into the car turn the key to the acc , the dash and everything comes on and the Check Engine Light immediately Flashes quickly and constantly. not like a normal CEL on them either. ( i have been told that you cant use the black and green connector on the Haltech ecus aswell?) Along with that The Thermo Fans come on full speed and theres a constant clicking noise. All 4 injectors are clicking on and off constantly and theres relays clicking. Along with that one of the boost/vacuum solenoid is also clicking away. Has anyone had this problem before? Im stumped at what it all could be , and since it had an aftermarket ecu it makes it harder for diagnosis The exhaust sensor is unpluged underneath and i cant see anywhere to plug it in. could that cause it? the standerd sensor that sits on the top side of the downpipe is non existant :S My best bet is That the Ecu is up to something as from what ive looked at in wiring diagrams the fans and injectors are directly connected to the ECU Can anyone help me out , Rego is soon so i need it running Thanks Ps. Visually there is no damage to the wiring at the front or sides. Also having the engine bay painted is it possible that a bad earth could cause the problem? its just weird because i had it running.
