Sorry mate I just read this bit.

Just didn't want you getting disappointed with unrealistic expectations.

Anything sub 12 in a road car is quicker than most and will be a hoot to drive.

I think my most favourite car that i've owned was a GC8 with around 400atw. I think it did an 11.7 and it was great to drive. I hammered it on a regular basis and it never missed a beat. I sometimes wish I'd stopped there.

I'm sure whatever you end up with will be a great combination. Don't get too obsessed on figures just enjoy it when its all done.

Yeah mate.... i think i did get to hooked on figures

I have been out of the wrc scene for nearly 13 years.....
Back then (for some strange reasons) hp readings were different.
The rigoli brothers where running 10.001 secs with 420awhp in 1 car...
11.4 with 340whp in another
And 12.0 with 270whp.

Seems hp figures are suffering inflation lol

Or your getting HP confused with KW.....

Generall rule of thumb is to multiply the HP figure by 0.74 (3/4s) to get the KW figure. And multiply the KW figure by 1.34 (1 + 1/3) to get HP.

Wierd. Because those numbers and times youve stated would make more sense if they were in KW. In HP its pretty hard to believe.

That's a bit like saying Andy Forrest runs 7's so mine should be in the nines.

IF they did manage a 10 flat with only 430whp then the car had lots of stuff cut out from it.

It would need to weigh well under 1000kgs to do that.

the 96 Rex was the fastest, after that article, rigoli did some more mods and got from 443hp @ wheels to 500hp @ wheels and run a 10.01 sec pass with that car, then he sold the engine and running gear to a customer who put it in a blue rex and added a 50 shot of nitrous and run a 10.5! Go figure
.

Is this the 10 sec rigoli wrx you are talking about? According to this post it had 500hp when it ran 10.01.

Ahh ok guys. I stand corrected. I had a magazine from that era that stated 420awhp. May have been a typo.

At end of the day you guys know far better than me having done it yourselves.
Ill adjust my expectations

I havent done it myself. I have a forester with 340hp and the best i could manage was a flat 13. But drag racing isnt exactly my preferred use for the car. Its nice to get a number on the board. But i think there are far better things to do in car than drag racing.
