Default Seeking quieter exhaust

Hello there,

I have from what I can gather a low cost 3" TBE exhaust with canon on my tuned MY00 WRX STI. I have had enough of the police attention, cabin noise and drone. I would like to upgrade to something significantly quieter. Anybody have a recommendation on what to get and where to get it from? I am on the Northside. In particular:

- thoughts on X-Force R Spec EM-SW05-MP02 3" TBE Oval single tip mild steel
- Is single oval tip the way to go?
- how do I know the flow rate won't be reduced to the put where I would be disappointed with the power loss
- other recommendations?

Thanks heaps!

Buying a XForce muffler will be expensive, will need to have the exhaust modified to fit properly (flanges, piping, hangers) and won't give you any benefit over a decent high flow oval muffler. Single or dual tips are a personal preference and won't have any performance impact on the car.

Andy's Exhaust Werx changed my cannon muffled axle back section to a oval muffled section for $400 using a quality high flow performance muffler. It's a straight through oval bodied muffler so cuts down on the volume, makes the exhaust tone deeper and doesn't restrict flow.

The only other option is (as Jordan said) to put in a new centre muffler or resonator which should help the drone but depending on the space available you might not be able to get a decent size muffler, so you might not get the desired volume.

Do u want it quieter all the time? If not, butterfly valve can help too, u can just open it up, when i want some fun.

Do u have a afr guage in the car? I think flow restrictions cause car to run rich.

Thanks guys. I hadn't thought of the centre muffler option.

I want it quieter all the time I guess. I had a look at the butterfly valve option, but am worried about the ability to register it if I move interstate.

No, I don't have an AFR gauge.
