Anyone able to help diagnose these noises
Hey so, noticed them late last year on my 04 wrx, thought maybe it was the suspension since it was due for maintenance, but after having STechnic do the struts this squeak was still there. It seems to have gotten more prominent over time, but it's coming from under the car and not the engine bay.
Car has done 180,xxx km total and had the timing belt done at around 174ish km (previous owner did the first timing belt early so). Just wondering if anyone can give any possible ideas as to what this could possibly be as no one seems to be able to tell me anything other than it doesn't seem at all detrimental to the car, but it's bloody annoying to drive. Also it seems to come on some time after the car has warmed up, first thing in the morning it's not usually squeaky. Video 1, just panning my phone under the car, seems to be coming more form the front end: https://youtu.be/epoFcTB_v6Q Video 2, set my phone under the car while I gave it some gas, seems to be a bit squeaky due to something vibrating under load: https://youtu.be/xRR_GWsW8Fg Any help or ideas at all would be amazing, it's starting to drive me insane. |

I've had the car tuned by Racetorque the other day and they didn't say there was an issue with it, the squeak isn't audible when I'm on open road, it's more when there's no other noise around or when I'm next to concrete dividers on the highway etc that bounce the sound back to the car.
Can't remember if the sound goes away if I put the clutch down. Considering it squeaks even when the car is idling would it still possibly the turbo? Just want a heap of options really to give my mechanic to see what he thinks, it sort of sounds like it'd be a pulley or something of the sort, but I haven't had a chance to hoist it lately to give it a decent check. |

I had an 09 Wrx turbo fail a few weeks ago. Just a slight squeak when you started it and sat there ticking over
I removed it in order to look further and found the excessive shaft play. I replaced the turbo and zero squeak now |

i had a squeak that sound ended up being my air con belt i isolated it by spraying a little bit of wd40 or similar on each belt till i found which one....squeaks and rattles can be a pain to find out where its coming from.

It was very odd when it squeaked when you closed the door in the second video, so I'd say it's something external to engine/turbo. Might be a lose heat shield or something rubbing somewhere on engine.
