*chuckle*

I can't believe this discussion is happening!

Pollarbear666, while I am pleased to see your positive results concerning your mods, you seem to be a little confused. Please do the following:
1. Post your theory of 'changing rpm and wheel speeds due to engine power increases' on rexnet.com.au and report back with a link. We can let the rest of the Australian wrx population decide.
2. Discuss your theory with your workshop (Tenagah) and report back with your findings.

Oh, and full marks to Ballistic et al for keeping their replies succinct, clear and calm.

Thanks.

UMMM what about when you rev the car up and then release the clutch ... your doing 5kph but the engine is doing 6000rpm. Explain that one? Shouldn't the car be doing 250kph if the engine is doing 6000rpm?

OH wait a sec, reality called and it says that engine revs can differ from drivetrain revs.

How dumb is it to suggest that a Kei class car with a 6L v8 will still require the ENGINE to spin at 3000rpm to propel it to 100kph. You guys are braindead. The engine produces enough hp probably at 1200rpm to get a KEI cars drivetrain to move at a rate that produces 100kph.
You are probably right, but if you are, then the entire Engineering department at Curtin University is wrong, and so are all the students that have graduated since its inception, including myself.

I urge you not to post on any other site. They may not be as cool calm and collected as 'ballistic' was able to be............

Seriously though...

Joe is a deece bloke and "remained calm" because he's one of the small few on forums that understands how to have a debate/ disagreement like a mature adult without taking it to a personal level and resorting to shooting 'low blows'. Personal attacks have NOTHING to do with an argument... unless of course the debate is actually about someone's personality! In this case, the argument is about gear ratios/ power increases etc. Joe is merely offering his opinion, based on factual knowledge (as many others have done as well).

Even if polarbear is incorrect this time round (which I for one would also subscribe to!), a person can still be shown a level of dignity regardless. In my book everyone has the right to an opinion, even if the opinion turns out to be factually proven wrong, and even if that person still appears to stand for what he thinks after the overwhelming responses contradict his opinions/ theories!

As long as it's kept 'above belt' and does not digress to personal remarks (due to one another losing their 'cool', or perhaps when there's nothing else they can use to support their argument?!).. it's a good discussion IMO, and everyone enjoys a good discussion. There's no logical reason to "lock a forum topic down" in these cases.

On topic/ "Nice gate".
