if you want a soggy handler, go the kings, if you want a bad handler go the whiteline flatouts, if you want an average handler go the sti pinks, if you want proper handling go coilovers, if you just want to pose, you should have just bought a wrx instead

I have superlows on my rex. The car still doesn't look very low. Handles worse and worse as time goes on. And the exhaust occasionally will scrape across a large speed bump. I have never had my stock wheels rub however, il see if it happens when I get larger 18' wheels.
I will intend on getting coilovers sometime down the track but if your after a temporary drop for a better look that your not intending on keeping for full use (and assuming your not driving your car in any events) then superlows are a good way to go. |

Don't go too low or you'll lose the balance you have with the kyb shocks already in place. NOthing lower than 30mm, try some japanese 'handling' springs or some european springs of similar proportions. Chopping 50mm+ will not give you what you want. Car handles great as is so matching the dampening rates will only improve on that vs making it handle like a skate board and looking 'fully sick'. If low aesthetics is your priority save for some coilovers around the 2k mark will give the adjustment expected and some reasonable handling to match.

I honestly wish that some workshops would give the right advice as opposed to just trying to offload/selling their own gear!
I've been in touch with Wheels World in particular and he seems to think that the Whiteline springs would be the go. I havent been so keen on the superlows as I've been hearing differing stories about the quality. Lots of them sagging etc. Does anyone know where to pick up a set of Tein S Tech springs here in Perth? I'm not really after an improvement in handling JUST from the springs....if I could lower the car and actually retain the same performance then I would be happy. Swaybars, camber bolts and an ALK will be fitted in the near future, so if any improvement is to be had....it will be in those areas IMO. Thanks for the feedback people! |

I went from Kings superlow to Apexi progressive rates springs and it was quite an improvement. The kings were slightly lower but the difference in ride and body control more then made up for it from the Apexi's. Also when I had the kings, it destroyed my standard shocks in about 6 months. I now ride on Koni adjustables and have never looked back.

Didn't Justin have some problems with the Flatouts not lowering his car as much as quoted?

Yeah I've heard the same thing, but from someone else....
On this car in particular is was supposed to drop around 40-50mm, but it only dropped about an inch...if that. |
