Will be bearings Rich. Pad knock off is the disk moving the pads back, which only happens when the rotor has movement. IE worn bearings. Or super high G like track work. I used to get a bit at the track. Im pretty sure its a reason Subaru went to 5x114.3 as they can run bigger bearings.
