Your MY95 WRX does not have a closed deck block.

RS Libertys have closed deck blocks, and certain STi Type RA engines also. The 22B had a fully closed deck 2.2 block, as did the USDM Liberty Turbo.

Late model EJ207's have reinforced bores, also known as "semi-closed deck"

Every other model WRX/STi etc, has an open deck block.

Yeah, sorry mate, it was me who said the 95 WRXs had close deck motors.

Its actually just the Type RA WRXs of that year that had the close deck engine.

As for me.... RS Liberty and Legacy GT.... Closed deck goodness... WOOOT!.

All the RS's and Legacys had closed deck Series 1 and Series 2.

All genuine Australian Liberty RS are Series 2 (92-94).

Got a closed deck in my car as well from liberty RS. Look for one with oil squirters that cools the underside of the pistons. Best to get a block with matching crank as your existing crank may not fit due to minor differences between EJ20 blocks.

Whats the advantages of a closed deck?

Alot more stronger and can handle more boost right?

Yes stronger, and also because the head gasket has a greater contact area between the block and the head, it can generally run more boost.
