Default yellow sticker spare tyre

just unsure whether it was essential to have a spare tyre in the boot while going through the pits....
i have a custom boot install....but i can place the spare tyre over the subs. would this be adequate or does the spare tyre need to be secured??
thanks for the help guys

no. a spare tyre is not a requirement when going over the pits. But chuck a can of that tyre weld in there so you dont get stuck some where.

Some new luxury cars dont even come with a spare tyre as they run on run-flats.

you need to have a spare in there, doesnt have to be secure

(you need to have one if your car came with one from factory)

To save you hassle, i'd just grab a space saver spare (i have one you can borrow if you need it) and id DEFINITELY secure it.

Problem is the pits are very inconsistent. I know the guys at warwick have passed me a few times with no cats and a straight through exhaust that hits 120db@ 3500, however last time (maybe 2 weeks ago) they pretty much wanted to see my car stock. They checked for a jack and spare tyre too!

In the three times i've been through the pits, no one has bothered to open the boot.

I would just have a tyre repair can on hand and take the chance, if I were you.

thanks for the advice guys. im going to chuck the space saver in there unsecured and see how i go.
on another note the rubber on my pedals seem to be a bit worn out (~20% bare) and i went to super cheap to try and find a replacement but they told me they couldnt find any -__-
so i was wondering if i should get some of those cheapo aftermarket ones with a little bit of rubber on them...coz i figured they would help me pass.
any advice is greatly appreciated
thanks again

Yeah definently get the rubber replaced on the pedals, especially if the bare metal is visable. Also i'd be anchoring the spare down in the boot 4 sure.

The pedal rubbers will be a fail, as will an unsecured spare.
Go with a can of tyre foam stuffed in next to your jack

the new pedal rubbers are only like $4 each for the genuine part from regents...

i took it to welshpool pits and it didnt manage to pass due to exhaust being 98dB
the inspector took it for a test drive and i could hear him hurting it...and on the way home the engine started sounding strange while idling.
now whenever its idling the engine shakes and sounds like it wants to die.
wtf!
im so pissed off
dont know what to do now
hjahha
