Default LM-2 connecting into M800 for Lambda

I have an Innovate LM-2 handheld wideband O2 sensor kit which I'd like to connect into the M800 to use as Lambda input and would like a quick claification on how to connect the 2 together:

LM-2 Analog output into M800 Analog Voltage Input 1
(Positive wire into M800, negative wire into any ground)

Then in the ECU manager under inputs set Lambda (La1) input to be AV1, calibration to be whatever O2 sensor I have (bosch i think) and set the high and low voltages.

Anything I have missed or totally got wrong here?

The LM-2 uses a bosch LSU4.2 oxygen sensor. I use the LC-1 kit for full throttle fueling on my car and it's the same sensor. I'm not sure about the LM-2, but I've heard the LC-1 analog output has a lot of noise on it, so I use the serial output instead.

However in your case, you have a motec (with lambda enabled I'm guessing) so you can connect the 5 wire oxygen sensor directly to the ECU and let it handle the heating element and measure directly. There should be documentation floating around on how to set up the bosch LSU sensor with a motec.

However if you decide to use the analog output from the LM-2, you'll need to set up the calibration in the motec to match the LM-2. I'm not sure what the default calibration on the analog output of the LM-2 is.

i would recommend the wideband option and directly wiring it to the ECU, as above.

No I don't have Lambda enabled on my ecu and from memory it's around the $1000 mark which is a bit steep IMHO especially considering you don't actually get anything physical (like an O2 sensor or controller).

I'll give the analogue input with the LM-2 a go and see how that works first.

Thanks.

dunno where people keep hearing this $1k per option!

its about $600 for single wideband option, and $250 for a bosch LSU 4.2 sensor.

I just got the wideband lambda upgrade for my ecu and have activated the option in the software.

So it is my understanding that I can connect the 5-wire sensor directly into the ECU itself and it can read from it directly rather than having to use a controller and then feeding 0-5v into it and calibrating etc??

Goldbox.

Just wired it up, it's coming up with error CM-6. For some reason I haven't been able to get onto Motec's website all day from both my internet connections so I can't even look it up. Any ideas? More likely it's my wiring but would like to be sure before I rip it all out again.

take a look at a stripped out config file of mine for "Input Setup", "Lambda Setup" and "Auxillary Output 2"
Attached Files
File Type: zip LAMBDA CONFIG.zip (3.3 KB, 5 views)

Thanks for that. What number on the O2 sensor is the calibration data, and will it be the same for all sensors in a particular series or is it unique for each individual sensor?

The C-6 error means either incorrect wiring, too much carbon on the sensor or incorrect setting. Just looked mine up and it's incorrect setting so will give it another go now.

Edit: Changed the sensor type to the correct one and rebooted the ECU and it's all working perfectly. Now to try and work out the calibration number as I'd rather not have to remove the sensor and do a free-air calibration.
