Does anyone know of a Hard Drive data recovery service in Perth.

I have a 300GB Western digital HDD that has died. The controller board has died but the contents of the hard drive I suspect is fine.

It just needs a temporary controller board fitted so that the HDD can be accessed and the data recovered.

It is still under warranty by WD but warranty does not cover data recovery.

Also what kind of costs are involved with data recovery services.

Not in Perth, but Forensic data over east does alot of work for my company.

Expect to pay THOUSANDS for recovery if it is more than just the board.

When I was with BHP they paid $2K for a bit level recovery of a 40gb IBM IDE Drive
Obviously being BHP they paid $1K more than what a normal consumer would pay

We use on track data recovery, $99.00 to look at the drive and send you a list of files that they can recover, the up to $1800 or so depending on how its damaged.

If you can get another 300GB WD drive, the EXACT model though, you can swap the board as you said and it will work, done it a couple times at work as we use the same Seagate drives over and over. The once you have copied off your data swap the boards back and send your drive for warranty.
Then sell the one you just bought (ill buy it!)

My company does data recovery, we outsource to a clean-room over east and its going to cost you $100 just to look at the media. Recovery from thee depends what can be found etc. PM me for more info.
