UWA Motorsport started competing in 2001, it hasn't taken them long to become a world class team with many judges ranking as one of the best teams in the world with one of the best designed race cars. If you do a bit of searching around it's quite hard to find a similar race car that is this unique.
Last years team is currently preparing for the US competition held in Detroit. In 2005 our car came 2nd, an oil leak in 2006 at the US comp cost what could have potentially been 1st place. This year we will be doing our best to not let it happen again, making sure this one doesn't get away and putting WA back on the map for those yanks. For myself, I started in 2006 just helping the team out here and there and looking after the cooling system. This year will be my final year of my Mechanical Eng Degree and I will looking after the drivetrain packaging and well as the shifting mechanism in the engine. In previous years a torsen diff out of an Audi Quatro was used, in 2006 it was the first year that the viscous diff from a subaru was used. We have decided to keep it this year and hopefully will be able to do some back to back testing to verify if any, the benefits of the different diffs. Hence I need a diff Keep the questions coming, for those who are interested go to our website at http://www.motorsport.uwa.edu.au/, it needs updating but you can really appreciate the evolution that has taken place over this short period of time. We've taken out 5th and 6th gear, the competition doesn't usually see these things go past 100km/h but we can hit 140km/h quite comfortably.
Another thing I forgot to mention too, the thing has tiptronics The 2002 car will be out this Saturday afternoon for the WASCC twilight short cicuit sprint event at Barbagallo raceway if anyone is interested Fred ________ Live sex webshows Last edited by fffffred; 22-08-2011 at 06:27 PM. |

Seems as though it was only discovered this arvo that 4th, 5th and 6th gears are missing. None the less, I believe the '06 car (as seen in photos) will be there on Saturday. Unsure if it's racing or not.

hey fred, i was on the motorsport team a few years back when I was studying at UWA. I also had the opportunity to check out the '06 car when you guys had it on display at my workplace. Bloody awesome machine. It's great to see that the cars are still improving every year. Best of luck with the US campaign.

NICE!
Curtin has one of these teams also...they dont just recruit engineering students either, commerce students are involved in implementing the race team, budgeting, project management, etc....was tempted to jump on board the team when I was there, but never got around to it |
