Too right!
People have different reasons for their way of voting. Some have a lot of strength behind their vote, while others are just voting one particular way 'coz I flipped a coin'.

EG: My mate is a chef at Coco's. He is voting no. His reason? Because he has to start the breakfast shift at the same time in the morning, regardless of where the sun is. BUT, people don't start coming in for dinner till about an hour later when there is daylight savings on, so he has to stay at work for an extra hour or more each night because people finish eating that extra hour later and he ends up getting an hour less sleep. So fair enough, he doesn't want it. He's voting for himself and his own reasons, which is what everyone should do.

On the other side of the coin (so to speak) I am voting yes. Why? Because I like the sun and the extra time to do stuff after work. Summer just gone I played in beach soccer comps at Cottesloe. I was still playing games at 8pm sometimes because we had the sun up. Afterwards we all headed over to the Cott for some well-deserved cold beers and watched the sun Phizzle out. If there was no daylight savings, we couldn't have even been on the sand at 8pm; it would not have been light enough.
That is one reason I am voting yes. For me.

So there you have it, different valid opinions. No need to get tiffy.

Shame the pollies dont think of these things, if they are going to spend money on a referendum, might as well make it worthwhile by asking something else.

Had to vote early so have seen the paper.

Bet there will be a lot that think DLS is ok but will look at the date range and go oh no thats to long or not long enough and vote no or just have no idea and not put anything.

Yeah exactly - what is good for WA not yourself. I don't need to go shopping after work, so late night trading or Sunday trading isn't important or necessary to me, but I would still vote 'Yes' as I can see how beneficial it can be to people.

We just had a referendum on extended shopping hours and the majority of people voted against it!!

Australians are collectively too stupid to pass a Referendum. You'll find that a lot of people dont understand the question or are ignorant of the issue so will vote 'NO'. Federally we have had 44 Referenda since 1901, only 8 have carried. In Sir Robert Menzies' words, "to get an affirmative vote from the Australian people on a referendum proposal is one of the labours of Hercules"

Would you belive that most of the failred referenda follow the same pattern - a majority YES vote in Vic and NSW and a resounding NO from the other backward ones.

Thats the whole problem with Democracy. The Vote of an Educated Visionary is worth the exact same as that of an Idiot!!

I'm voting YES today, and hoping for a miracle...
