Standard Import Rules Apply. Same as importing from JapLand AFAIK..

NZ gets alot of cool Subarus. Especially the older Gen1, 2, and 3 Legacy RS and GTs

if you want to buy from NZ. check if it has a current WOF (warrant of fitness)

its a yearly test to check roadworthyness. only cost about 30-40 dollars, but cars can fail for rust in structual places, generally bad mechanical condition etc.

you prob dont want to buy a vehicle thats failed a WOF

Freight from NZ is also more then freight from Japan.

They may have tons more cool imports then us, but alot of them dont meet SEVS

Are you sure the RORO (roll on roll off) ships would be empty when leaving NZ, backloading from NZ should be heaps cheaper.

You would think so, but the few times a few of us investigated the cost, its always been more. 1500ish from J, 2500ish from NZ

In addition to what's been said, as is the case with living in Japan, if you live in NZ for 12 months or more, you can bring a car back with you. AFAIK it would still need to meet all the SEVS bullshit. Also I think you may have to have owned it for a year too, but not confident on that one. It's no wonder some of their show cars over there piss on ours. They get imports for a song over there and all that money saved goes towards mods and rice.

Private import negates most of SEVS regulations, so you can get modified cars in with much ease.

Have to have owned the car for a year, with proof of ownership.
