LOL the one i was looking at was at jb hi fi, had windows vista basic, not to fussed about having vista, not to fussed on the specs as its not running high end programs, as long as its reasonable, yes it has to have a wireless card built in as my adsl at home is wireless and i will need to connect to that

and yes i want a laptop coz of its mobility, has to have a few usb ports as i use them, have a portable 250 gig HDD drive i wanna plug to it, my mobile phone and digi cam, and also need a port for my dj program...serato to connect my turntables.

Yes the one i looked at at jb had a dvd burner too, eys thats a must, wether its dual core or any of that shit im not fused what ill do is find ths specs off the net of the one i was looking at and you nerds can tell me if its a good buy for a budget laptop

Get the entry level macbook. Will be much faster than any $900 dollar windows laptop. If you must run windows, use bootcamp.

Trust me, the PC will run like a dog after 6 months, especially if you get a vista machine.

i only use mac these days, i have a 5k pc at home that i never use with dual 8800gtx's core duo 2 etc

If you are running WinXP on a Macbook, its basically same same. After all $900 isn't going to buy you anything decent.

When did i say you should run windows xp? In fact you'd be silly to run xp when it comes with a zillion times better os in os x

if you "need" to run xp you can run it as well but as everyone finds once they use os x for a few weeks they never switch xp on

anyway.. im not going to turn this into a mac vs pc thing

Not wanting to turn it into a Mac vs PC thing either. I just don't like peoples comments that a PC will turn to shit in 6 months, where as a Mac won't.

Mac OSX is nice and if you can run everything you need under it, yeah its great. However there still is the great divide of programs that are only on Windoze. Anyone running a computer without adequate virus protection/spyware is only asking for trouble. Now thats whether you run OSX or Windows.

Depending on what your goal is with a computer, look at both options (or go full nerd spec and run Linux ). Personally a Mac is always overpriced compared to the Windows competition.

P.S. If you Mac guys are missing the virii, you can still get them on a Mac - they're just not as popular yet.

get a mac... i have 2 nice new santa rosa MBP, and a G5 17" Imac, i like to actually "work" on my computer, not spend ages updating this and that, tweaking, patching, generally pissing around like you do with WINDOZE...
