Kym,
With the mobile phone one, 'technically' you can only claim business calls you have made. What you will find is so long as you are claiming under a certain percentage the tax man doesn't care too much. Personally I'd look at how much % is business. If its 1 or 2 calls out of 500, you'd be hard pressed to justify it if ever audited. Quote:

Re the salary sacrificed laptop:
Your employer gets a deduction for the GST exempt value of the laptop as a salary expense in the year in which it is paid. They paid for a laptop instead of putting the cash in your account. You, the employee, get the FBT exemption benefit and are able to claim depreciation on the GST inclusive value of the laptop. Effective life=3years? |
