Laser can be very hit and miss, especially at a distance. It could take the cops 3+ shots at reading your speed which is heaps of time for the detector to let ya know what is going on and you can adjust your speed if necessary.
The cops know this and so thats how you can often getaway with a jammer device because the cops receive an error and having to recheck the speed giving you the time to adjust your speed and then turn the jammer off so as you get closer they can check your speed and they are none the wiser that you have a very illegal laser jammer. If you drive past a cop who is trying to speed check you with a laser gun and they cant due to you jammer still being on be prepared to be pulled over and charged with obstructing police. |

Depends on the cop. I found when there was a lot of media coverage on them, police didn't like you having them (I also noticed when the media coverage is on, more people buy them thinking they have a license to speed). Last time I was pulled over, the officer didn't even care about it. For the laser stuff... The 'laser' is technically 'lidar'. The laser used to detect speed is a 904nm wavelength. At a good distance this means the width of the beam is not much stopping people detecting any speed monitoring. With the old radar, the beam is very wide which allowed detectors to pick it up from a long distance away. If you're detector goes off on Laser, essentially you are pinged. Usually a police officer takes a couple of readings to make sure of the speed (increasing, decreasing or constant speed), but I don't think they have to. Laser jammers sound like a good idea, till you get ass raped by police for having them. If it is not illegal to operate one, expect to get owned for obstructing police or something.

i got clocked from a laser 750m away.... i dropped a bit of speed by hitting the anchors and swerve so i rekon there is a good chance they can read up to 1k away...
thats awesome! |
