It's perfectly legal for bikes to move to the front of the lights provided the lights are red & the vehicles he is passing are stationary, I'm quite sure he didn't make any difference to your day apart from getting where he was going quicker, take a pill & get over it.

+1

Get over it dude, if I had a $1 for everytime I saw this going to and from work, Id be a millionaire, more to the point, as far as I am aware, unless he crossed a solid white line, then he is legally allowed. Besides, who gives a rats ass, its not like hes imposing on your life in any way, or holding you up in any way, so why stress?

Quote:
the line was a solid one, and as far as i know if you pass over a double or a single white line you are in the wrong
On a technicality (sp?), when talking relevance to you, as a driver, there is no difference between double and single lines because, all it is, is one line for each side.

It's the whole 'get where you're going quicker' mentality of 95% of the road users out there that shits me. Instead of showing some patience and allowing people to merge in front of them or running that orange etc. It's not a fucking race people, show some consideration. I see it all the time. You wouldn't believe some of the manouvers people are willing to do just so they can get around me when I'm at a stop or about to merge. Cars are worse than bikes in this regard.

Nothing wrong with bikes taking up the front of the line, as long as theyre not going to go slower than the traffic after they start. When I used to traverse Waneroo road into the city, shitbox scooters would overtake all the cars, then not keep their fat asses left, holding up all the traffic.

The other one that shits me is when making a left or right turn at a giveway etc, and they decide they can take your spot at the front of the line on the inside/outside.

The problem with bikes is that for $20k you can go and buy a bike that (if your good enough and your balls are big enough) will do 60 seconds flat round wanneroo and smoke anything on the road.

People think they are qualifying on the street. On the other hand though if they are going a bit faster and in and out of traffic they are going to be concentrating a lot more and are more likely to see the smacktard pull out from a side street.

I would love a road bike but I really dont want to get hit.

I ride a motorbike regularly and to be honest sitting at 60 k's in traffic is way more dangerous than sitting at 5 or 10 k's over.

Reason being if you are sitting in traffic along with all the cars you become invisible to all the drivers around you. The less time you spend next to one particular car the better. Im not saying do 120 in a 50, use common sense here.

People who say bikers get knocked off only because they are doing stupid things you can shut the fuck up IMO! My father had an accident 3 weeks ago on beaufort st at 50 k's an hour. He was travelling along the road and some dumb bitch decided to turn right in frount of him at the last second because she saw the traffic jam ahead and wanted to deviate around it. Clearly he was doing something stupid at the time, thats why so many people came to the assistance of him and his passanger telling him that they will be a witness for the crash against the lady driver. Of corse all the lady could say to him was im sorry, I didnt see you. That is really going to fix him, the bike and his passanger (who was worse off than he was and it was her first time on a bike).

Countless times I have had very close shaves in traffic while I have been abiding by the law and another motorist pulls out infrount of me, cuts me off or pulls into my lane.

Yes there are idiots on bikes and I am not disputing that, I know some personally and have a friend who was recently killed on one, may he RIP. However if you are going to make a highly intelegent comment like "ban all bikes" why dont we make another intelegent comment and "ban all motorists who cannot drive their car properly or have no clue about the road rules" I'm sure that will yield a much better result to the safety and integrity of out roads.

Furthermore, I will admit I ride down the middle at the lights once again because I believe it is safer. Would you rather be riding in the middle of the traffic all the time or at the start of every green light have no other cars around you to deal with, without needing to speed?

People who ride bikes also inherently become a more alert driver in their cars, another plus. The bottom line is not all riders are road smart but neither are all drivers. Neither does someone need to bullshit on about banning bikes from the road.

^^ agree totally^^

What car drivers don't understand is when bikes move up to the front at the traffic lights is to get away from cars, not to be first in line just for the heck of it

Agree

Ban Scooters!!!

Or make them like a push bike and ride at the side of the road

As for those who say they have to be at the front to be safe - Bollocks

push bikes stay left and dont get hit to often - I know of more motorbike fatalities than pushbike ones. The bikes are too busy weaving through the cars and dont get seen.
