So in line with the new police cars & technology they have, i noticed this morning there was one just sitting on the side of the road scanning a stream of traffic, pretty much fishing would be the best way to describe it. Anyone driving with an un-regoed car, without a current licence, or is tagged as a VOI is pretty much done for, which I am happy about i must say. Pretty sure they are also speed cameras too. What does everyone think about this? As far as i am concerned if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to worry about, just hope the technology is all ironed out and you don't get pulled over incorrectly because of a computer glitch or database error. |

If you have nothing to hide its fine?
When the government wants to track every dollar you spend or put a camera in your house for your safety will your view be the same? 1984 is here ... When will the same level of scrutiny be applied to the state/government?

Every dollar spent + cameras in house is taking it a bit far, but i understand your point.
Have you noticed how many CCTV cameras are going up in and around Perth? I'm all for that too, you would be too if your daughter got mugged and they managed to capture it on CCTV which led to a conviction. To me, people driving with un-registered vehicles, no licence and the insurance issues associated with that if the hit you is a big deal. If they wanna scan my number plate then go for it, just seemed like a bit of a dog tactic to sit on the side of the road just fishing as oppose to actually patrolling in those cars which i was I believed the purpose of them was! |

I'm sorry Rich but we will just have to disagree on this matter. Until the ability as an individual exists to monitor the state monitoring me, or I have the ability to monitor the state, all of the changes are nothing but an erosion of my right to privacy.
That is why I have no issues with radar detectors. I'm just monitoring the police monitoring me.

I don't think you will ever be able to monitor the state monitoring you to be honest! Maybe with your radar detector, a police scanner, and your own surveillance satellite in orbit you might be getting somewhere. Best I have done so far is my own CCTV system at home. |

I wish I had the ability to monitor Larry Page's google searches.
