I'm sure it's already been said but fuck, the reason JH didn't apologise, and anyone before them, is because the legal rammifications will be expensive.
I think it's the first rule in any accident (not my opinion), of any nature, don't admit fault. Cheers, Nik |

Apology - fuck yes
Compensation - fuck no The abuses of yesteryear can never be justified, no matter what your opinion on the current situation of Aboriginals in Australia.

tru but seriously "we" didn't do anything if anyone is to apologize its the BRITS!
.....saying sorry as mentioned already is hollow...... and as far as compo NO WAY! why should our tax dollars go towards something that never had anything to do with us????? the best thing that could happen is to ban alcohol to them (im talking remote locations) and invest the already millions spent on rehabilitation smaill industry's producing some products...... mmm maybe a lot of oh&s issues there..... |

I think that is why the 'apology' is being done in Parliament as anything said in Parliament can not be used in court. Therefore no compensation claims can be made.

I can't see how we can say sorry, and then not be liable for compensation. An apology is an admission of guilt.
? EDIT: Typing whilst previous post was being made. Clarification would be appreciated though. Double Edit: That document talks down to me and my opinions, trying to make me feel stupid for having a thought process. My opinion only. Cheers, Nik Last edited by theprotest; 12-02-2008 at 09:02 PM. |

We are not America FFS, saying sorry is not an admission of guilt
Mattr!X Did you want to go war in Iraq and Afghanistan? Cos a metric fuckload of our taxes pay for that too. If you want to timeline it into the past, Vietnam - we spend alot of our taxes looking after those who are now physically and mentally ill from that war. I sure as hell didnt decide to go there, but I pay for it now. Say sorry, dont give them a cent. Its fair and reasonable. And you never know, it may be the spark to bigger and better change. If I was Aboriginal, I sure as hell would have issues trusting White Australians.

Because you will find those wont be the words.
more along of the lines of "what was done by others was wrong" (i am not an expert on writing binding documents for the government so please dont quote me word for word) see the difference?
