Was speaking with the multa-nova operator week before last and to date, they haven't seen a plate cover that has stopped them from seeing the plate.

That's right, since they moved to an IR camera they can see through those optically deflecting plates.

ok this will defeat infra-red as will be full blanking at all wavelengths.
if power fails, its just a peice of glass see thro, when it is powered it is black, but it wil be flickering on and off in sections faster than the eye can detect, but a camera with a high shutter speed will see a partially obscured plate. the only fly in the ointment may be due to strobing from street lighting @ 50 hz this could make the plate flicker, careful choice of blanking frequency would sort this out.. Ahh so now Multinova is infra red.. interesting.. need more info here too, we used to defeat UK infra red cameras fairly easily, using high brightness IR LED's as all the plates in the uk are poly carbonate all you did was drill holes in the plate and insert IR LED's this blanked out your plate with white circles on the camera. we also used to purchase non reflective plates, this wont happen here as you can only get official plates. Do multinova's only use IR at night? ... |

Years ago i just used to take off front plate and at worse cop a $50 fine off the police.
Most the time just a good excuse and carring the number plate next to you seat to chuck up onto your windscreen would get ya off hehe Now i have finally pulled my head in after many BIG fines caught in the act before the hoon laws came into force. Gone are the good old days. ![]() Only place now is on the track unless you have big $$$ and plan on loosing your car |

i'm not at all interested in speeding, i am however an electronics engineer, and i work for a large electronics company and can source stuff at cost, including custom LCD's. I like a challenge, there has not been one effective solution for blocking plates covertly. i'm pretty sure i can come up with an elegant and simple low cost solution, which i will sell via the web and supplement my income. thats all, if it works and is not snake oil it will sell, current cost projections come back at around $320 sell for a run of 500.

Numberplate on the dash = FTL
Got ROLLED by coppers in Busselton for this, and I had a legit reason: Panel shop that replaced front bumper neglected to re-mount the plate, as it was returning because they had to fix the mounting of the bumper i was leaving the plate for them to mount. Cops still had me for breakfast... |

here is a hint: plates are partially coating a light polarising material
