Default Keep Left Except When Overtaking

Yep a good rule. But what do people think about this purely hypothetical situation- On a 2 lane road you are in the right lane, 5th in a group of 5 cars. First of the 5, not a wrx of course, unless there is a confession, is driving a bit slower than the speed limit. There is light traffic in the left lane going even slower. Then a 4WD comes up fast from behind, you see impatient hands waving and head shaking. Is it an ambulance or a very impotent person? Should you give up your place in the queue?
Well my driving can be and has been criticized, I was given a lecture on speeding last month by a police officer after I was pulled out a stream of traffic doing 55ks, the limit was 60. Good training for something maybe.
Over and out for bitching, flaming, and maybe even sensible discussion .…

well you were on the right lane im guesing because the left was moving to slow. However the person leading the pack on the right lane should be at least doing the speed limit.

But in the end nobody can really be at fault if both lanes are filled with cars, and that person behind you was either in a hurry or really impatient, or possibly a natural cockhead. From my understanding, you should also use the right lane if the left is moving slower then the speed limit, or congested.

You were using the right lane because the left was moving even slower, so i don't think you should give up your place because you were not doing anything wrong , however if it was an ambulance different story. You would have to move over to give him clear road.

Keep left unless over taking rule only applies to roads 90kmh and above. It was changed after it was found that it was simply too hard to realistically enforce in normal traffic on low speed roads.

Silly Australian rules, piss poor road design and the way people are taught to drive over here cause all these problems.

1. You always seem to get someone in the right hand lane sitting at or just under the speed limit next to a car in the left hand lane doing the same speed. No one can get past and causes frustration in some drivers.

2. Some drivers of certain vehicles think they immediately get right of way since and try to push other drivers out of the way. I hate it when on the freeway and the right hand lane is blocked by 1 driver, yet some angry idiot comes up behind me at warp speed, flashing their lights expecting me to get out of their way.

3. If Australians drove like they do here in Europe, they would be immediately taken off the roads.

^^ that's true, ford did a study into their target market for 4wd's. The report was leaked and said something like:

It was men with small willies and impotence problems buying big 4wds.

I didn't actually understand what you were trying to say.

But I am like TJ and will overtake on the left if I feel the need arises because some stupid old fuk is sitting in the right hand lane doing 90 in a 100 zone.

Only difference between me and TJ is I haven't put it into a wall while overtaking on the left
