That, and disabling some of the automated bullshit.

Yeh, RAM is da go... however, unless you have 64bit which allows for up to 8GB depending on mobo, Vista can only see 3.4GB of it or something close to that? Anyways, it's still a fair whack of memory, & probably more than you will ever need (at least for now!) .

If by that you mean your OS isn't quite legal, then no, an upgrade won't work. You would need the full version.

That's strange, isn't your machine the minimum requirement to run that abortion of an OS?

Vista is good. I don't know what most people complain about.

Acutally a lot of people can't handle things being new so they are sticking with the older version (98 comes out, 95 is the best... XP comes out 2000 is the best etc etc etc)

Vista SP1 has been out for a while now so make sure you get the new discs if purchasing.

mmm no. Before service pack 1, that is correct, but they fixed that with service pack 1. It row recognises the RAM.

Vista runs good on mine (2.66ghz quad core, 4gb RAM )
and I think its not too bad once I disable all the notifiers and automated crap. and for the people who get upset because it looks different, you can change most things to "classic view" so it looks like good old windows xp.
