I have imported a set of wheels and a front bumper and the customs broker the freight forwarder has "nominated" wants $300 to act as a customs broker

So is anyone here a customs broker, or can recommend one?

I used Schenker last time as they were nominated by the freight forwarder. After trying to sort out a cheaper alternative they then wanted to charge me a storage fee, so I just paid them their fee's and never want to see them again.

As far as I know you can just lodge the forms yourself. The people at customs were very helpful I found.

Schenker are the brokers who want to charge me $300.

This is on top of $400 in airport "terminal" fees.

Make sure if you order anything from O/S the supplier sends them "door to door", not "door to airport"!

Heh, I thought it sounded like them. Make sure if you are doing it yourself or using someone else you do it quickly. When I got told I would have to pay storage fees it was like they had just pushed me over a barrel and got out the lube.

I never understood why my shipment changed to door-airport since I had given them my final delivery address, but I guess it is a risk you take when in foreign countries with a language barrier.

Bring all our stuff in from overseas. Not sure how expensive they will be for single jobs without an account but they are the best for us.

Don't need a broker. You can do it all yourself at Perth Airport Customs House. Costs $54 or thereabouts.
