I was told the same things. I personally didnt even know they were on or that it was illegal. They pulled me up on Albany Hwy, promptly told me that they are illegal to have on unless its a case of bad weather, and so i turned them off. Said thanks and went on my way. I think you just got yourself a $100 for a little bit of an over reaction.

I had a copy say "Turn your fog lights off... theres no fog".
I pointed out that his cop car had its "Park lights" on and it wasnt' "Parked".

I was lucky to get away with an RBT.

Cops hate attitude, you give them lip, then they get nasty. I'm always polite and generally speaking they reciprocate. I've got myself off a few speeding fines that way. I got a $150 fine once for pulling out of my driveway as I put on my seatbelt. The cop was obviously someone who never had enough hugs from mummy, but what can you do? Just smile and agree with him.

If its that big a problem Lonzy just wire up your fog lights with your highbeam loom so they only come on when your high beams on. Win?

Thats what a police man told me one night. Good bloke actually, but he fined my ass.

Just a side note, were you reversing out? While you are reversing or stationary, there is NO requirement to wear a seatbelt! Or was it one of those "putting the belt on as you start driving forward" situations that we are all guilty of?
