Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction.
Looking at changing jobs in the new year. When I started my current employment earlier this year, I was given a contract to sign. I am wondering if this contract is worth the paper it is written on or not.

I was pissed about this contract as it was not shown to me until after I had accepted the job, and given notice at the old job.

The conditions in this contract state there are only 5 sick days a year. I can be terminated at any time for any reason, but I must be given 8 weeks notice, and if I intend leaving I must also give 8 weeks notice.

I do stores work so if I find a new job, the chance of the position being held for 8 weeks is very slim.

Any help is appreciated.

Walk out - what are they going to do - not pay your holidays - considering how long youve been there it wont be much anyhow.

Are you a member of a union at all? Long winded process I know but fuck that, I'd just walk. 2 months notice is a load of bollocks. Especially for stores work.

I would walk too all they can do is hold your holiday pay, in your case probably not worth worrying about.

Thats part of the reason i want to leave. Since the aussie dollar went to shit, machine vision gear is not in as much of a demand. A few weeks ago I spent all day 4 days in a row looking at all the cyanide and happiness comic strips. Doing nothing takes its toll.
