My old man is physically unwell. Not the same as being a dole bludger but the outcome is the same.

It is no life of pride.

Its the same for my Dad. And they treat him terribly aswell. They are always cutting his payments without telling him why and hes having to ring up to find it was a mistake or he didn't tell them something had changed etc. (when nothing has changed). Its a long story but I hope to have enough savings so that it never happens to me :/

Simple fix -

FOOD STAMPS, ie a voucher for a loaf of bread, carton of milk etc. And vouchers for a pack of nappies if you have a baby.

FIXED!
Is it that hard for the politicians to make this happen?

I totally agree with them having to pass a drug test to get the dole. Hubby works on mines and has to pass them to keep his job so I dont think its that much to ask.

There is no incentive in Australia to earn more than the average in my opinion.

I have had an employee on $100k+/year leave to go on a $50k/year job as with the benefits he would receive, he actually had more money for the family.

Dole cheats/bludgers should be made to do more than sit at home. Send them to training courses or the like to get them out of their rut. If you don't want to work, then that is your decision and you shouldn't receive a hand out for it. This would hopefully free up more money for those who need and deserve it.

And call me crazy, but lower the upper tax brackets to give people the incentive to achieve more. Current scenario is you pay up to 48.5% income tax, then spend your money on something and pay more tax (LCT, CGT, stamp duties, heck even land tax). Every step you take you seem to be paying tax on tax on tax. If people can see the point of earning more and spending more, they suddenly create more jobs (higher demand for products) giving those who can't get a job a position to fill.

Some bleeding heart will complain that a bank CEO on $20 million a year will have more money, but big deal. They have probably paid more taxes than most people will earn in a lifetime.

Default Tax?

Tax system is totally out the ass in this country, personally can't wait get the hell out of it, sure every country has its good and bad points but if I have to pay for child care $$$$$ health $$$$ and education $$$$ when they all should be of a better quality or even free I'll start look elsewhere like most people are.

There are just to many rules and taxes that as far as I can tell get spend on total crap Like aboriginals and politicians. Now that I'm on tax free money screw the government.

anyone here get the $1000 bonus?
